I just watched a sermon by a priest who visited Burning Man with his 22 year old daughter and found out what “community” is supposed to mean, people who freely give of themselves, hold no attitudes and feel safe where everyone has each others backs. Our little community of Boquete is like that place and one of our weekly gatherings at our Tuesday Market is another example of why we have such a wonderful community here. Back in the US, our neighborhood was just that, a neighborhood. It was far from being a community.
As with the priest at Burning Man, we get to know and socialize with more people here than we did in Miami with over 2 M people. I invite you to read the story “Welcome Home – A Reflection on Burning Man” and watch the Video of the sermon that I watched, it is a little over 30 minutes but watch the whole thing and I think that it will inspire you too.
