With the arrival of the first flights of the airlines Sunwing and Air Transat at Scarlett Martínez International Airport, located in Río Hato, province of Coclé, the season of charter flights from Canada began.

These flights will directly connect passengers with the cities of Montreal, Quebec and Toronto, as part of the winter season in the Northern Hemisphere, so a significant increase in Canadian tourists is expected.

Sunwing Airlines and Air Transat have programmed four weekly frequencies on A321 and Boeing 737-800 Max aircraft, with capacity for 190 passengers, this operation is planned for the high winter season, which extends over six months, during which Tocumen, S.A., the managing company of the regional terminals, projects a movement of approximately 50,000 passengers.

According to Norberto Cano, administrator of Scarlett Martínez Airport, the projection for the closing of 2024 is 64,500 passengers, 3.9% more than the same period of 2023, which accounted for 62,087 passengers.

He added that the offer of direct flights from Canada to the Pacific Riviera not only facilitates tourist access to this destination, but also represents an economic boost for the region, generating employment and strengthening the local tourism sector.
