Café Durán inaugurates a new production plant with an investment of US$25 million

With an investment of US$25 million, the Panamanian Food company (EPA), inaugurated and started the operations of the new Café Durán plant, the first in the region with a PROFORTE equipment for emissions control, which is the latest innovation of the global manufacturer PROBAT, a leading German company in coffee processing technology.

Company sources reported that the new plant, located in Penonomé in the province of Coclé, also has automated control systems that will allow complete traceability of processes and raw materials, high levels of safety and safety for personnel.

The plant has among its innovations energy-efficient and resource-saving systems, such as mechanisms for the reuse of rainwater, technology for emission control, solar panels and solid waste management systems, which are part of epa’s corporate recycling program.

Currently, 70% of the energy required for the plant is generated by the 1,143 solar panels. This plant replaced the operation that remained for more than 50 years located in Panama City, specifically in the area of El Cangrejo.
