There is still a huge disconnect between finance, business and education here in Panama and it has one of the worst educational systems. One only has to look to Korea to see what the investment in education can do for a country. I know, I grew up there, was educated there and saw a country rise up from poverty and become a leader in the world today. Panama could also. It is not a mystery people, it takes a leader to put the country’s full weight of the government behind this to make it happen and it can.
The education of children and young people must be the appropriate in order to fit into a labor market that gets more competitive day by day or to start their own businesses.
From a statement by the Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama (CCIAP):
CONTINUING MODERNIZATION OF EDUCATION IS TASK FOR EVERYONE
In a few days thousands of children and young people will enter classrooms to prepare to be the future of our country.
Therefore, we believe this is the right opportunity to reiterate, both to guardians and educators, and business people, civic clubs, media and other forces in the country, the importance of being active participants, collaborators and observers in an improvement in the continuum of education received by men and women who tomorrow will work to make Panama a bigger place, whose actions will depend on what we are able to offer today.
