Panama and Costa Rica sign bilateral agreements on employment

With the signing of agreements between the Ministry of Labor and Labor Development (MITRADEL) of Panama and the Ministry of Labor and Social Security of Costa Rica for the attention of circular labor migration between the two countries, the seventh meeting of the Binational Committee for the Implementation of the Agreement Relating to the Coordination Mechanism for Migration Flows for Employment and Occupation purposes culminated.

The signing of these agreements will allow the opening of employment and safe work opportunities through the regularization of migration focused on the protection of human rights and the guarantees of their labor rights, in an orderly and safe way.

Likewise, the objectives of sustainable development of economic growth and the protection of migrant workers are met, both of the Panamanians who cross to Costa Rica and the Costa Ricans who are going to work in Panama, said Alfredo Mitre, director of Employment of MITRADEL.

Meanwhile, Hazel Fallas, National Director of Employment of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security of Costa Rica, pointed out that the signing of these agreements are a joint work that has been carried out for years to promote the orderly migratory flow, with traceability and sustainability, so that more migrants benefit.
