BNP will disburse US$136.8 million to boost Chiriquí’s economy

The General Manager of the National Bank of Panama (BNP), Javier Carrizo, said that the bank has budgeted disbursements in the order of US$136.8 million to support the economic development of the province of Chiriquí.

Of this amount, US$78.4 million is intended for agricultural customers, US$50.8 million for Consumer Banking (mortgage loans, personal and credit cards) and US$7.6 million for small and medium-sized merchants.

Likewise, it was announced that at the end of the first month of 2025, the total balance of Chiriquí’s private portfolio amounts to US$850.9 million, an amount that is higher by US$22.8 million, compared to the US$828.1 million obtained in the same period of 2024.

Of this total, US$578.8 million correspond to Consumer Banking, US$248.9 million to Production and Development Banking (agricultural sector) and US$23.2 million to Business Banking.
