News from Panama / Saturday, March 1st, 2025

The business representative of Laboratorios BASI, from Portugal, Carlos Novais de Araujo, expressed the interest of the pharmaceutical group in offering the country high-quality drug options at affordable prices.

BASI Laboratories’s mission is to develop, manufacture, market and distribute medicines and therapeutic solutions globally, supported by the excellence of European quality and innovative technologies, in a competitive and flexible manner.

The company has a solid portfolio of more than 240 registered pharmaceuticals, covering 17 different therapeutic areas.

The visit of the Portuguese executive was considered appropriate by the Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce, Eduardo Arango, especially after the recent announcement by the President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino, about the price reduction of 20 of the most demanded medicines by patients in all pharmacies of the Ministry of Health (MINSA).

Arango recalled that this government initiative seeks to reduce the costs of the most used drugs, including analgesics and those intended to treat respiratory and metabolic conditions.

The possible collaboration with BASI Laboratories opens a door to new therapeutic options accessible to the Panamanian population, aligning with the government’s goals of improving access to essential medical treatments.
