With the recent arrival of flight AB317 at Tocumen International Airport (AIT), Avianca has marked a milestone by reopening a new route that connects the skies of Panama with El Salvador International Airport.
This new connection offers travelers seven frequencies per week, operated on modern Airbus A320 aircraft with capacity for up to 180 passengers, providing a weekly offer of more than 2,500 seats.
The Colombian airline reaffirms its commitment to the region by establishing this direct route, which will contribute significantly to international connectivity between two important hubs.
Rolando Damas, Avianca’s sales director for Central America, North America and the Caribbean, highlighted the strategic importance of this new route, emphasizing that Panama has been a crucial point for the airline for the last 4 or 5 years. Damas emphasized the intention to strengthen international connectivity between Panama and El Salvador with this direct flight.
These flights are the result of a thorough study that confirmed the growing demand for air connections between Panama and El Salvador, as well as with all of Central America. This route is in addition to the extensive presence of Avianca in the Panamanian market, complementing the nineteen frequencies between Panama City and Bogotá.
Claudio Dutary, Operations Manager of Tocumen International Airport, said that the route will initially operate in terminal one, taking advantage of all the facilities offered by one of the most important air hubs in Latin America.
Diana Vanegas, ambassador of El Salvador to Panama, stressed the importance of reopening these direct flights, which will facilitate the transport of Salvadoran citizens in Panama, as well as the commercial and tourist exchange between both countries and other nations of Central America. The initiative will contribute to the strengthening of trade relations in the region.
