ATP and CANATURI join efforts to strengthen indigenous tourism in Panama

The Panama Tourism Authority (ATP) met with the National Chamber of Indigenous Tourism (CANATURI) to promote indigenous tourism in the country, highlighting the importance of the inclusion of indigenous peoples in sustainable tourism development.

At the meeting, strategies were addressed to increase the visibility of indigenous destinations and create products that reflect their traditions. The ATP committed to integrating communities into the Sustainable Tourism Master Plan, respecting their autonomy and ensuring that the benefits reach them directly.

Gloria De León, Administrator of the ATP, highlighted the importance of clearly communicating the tourist value of each community, while Elvis Flaco, president of CANATURI, valued institutional support as key to indigenous tourism development.

This collaboration reinforces the commitment to promote inclusive tourism that benefits Panama’s indigenous communities.
