ARPA satisfied with judicial resolution that promotes the development of Port Baru

The Association of Panamanian Shipowners (ARPA) expressed its approval of the recent decision by the Supreme Court of Justice that ratified the environmental impact study for the development of the Port Barú project, highlighting it as a strategic advance to consolidate Panama as a world-class logistics hub.

Through a statement, ARPA said that the Port of Barú represents a key opportunity to strengthen the competitiveness of the national maritime industry, allowing to expand and diversify trade and maritime services. Among the main benefits, new cabotage routes are highlighted that will improve maritime connectivity in the country and boost economic growth.

The union emphasized that this project will not only generate employment, but will also strengthen Panama’s position in the global market. In addition, they reiterated their commitment to collaborate with the government and other key actors to ensure that the development of the port is carried out in a sustainable way and following international standards.

“Port Barú is a strategic investment for Panama that will benefit the entire maritime supply chain,” ARPA said in a statement, underlining its commitment to initiatives that boost Panama’s maritime industry and the country’s economic development.
