They approve more than $3 million to support agriculture

After a transfer of departure from the National Assembly of $3,672,286.00 to MIDA, subsidies will be given for agricultural producers

The Budget Committee of the National Assembly approved two departure transfers for $1,840,266, to the Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA) for a low-interest loan to the Banana Cooperative of the Atlantic (Coobana) of Bocas del Toro.

The head of the MIDA, Augusto Valderrama, explained the “support” is made because it is “affected by different issues such as climate, economic, the pandemic and war and that through this support with loans from the Agricultural Development Bank it is intended to save this company.”

Valderrama added that the other transfer of $1,832,000 is to meet the subsidies of the agricultural sector related to fuel for the machinery and work tools of the producers.
