During a working meeting Panama and Argentina, the issue of health procedures and regulations for the exchange of dairy and meat products between the two countries, from the point of view of animal health, for the benefit of the agricultural sector, was discussed.
During the meeting it was said that the collaboration between the two countries will be maintained in compliance with international regulations, being able to review the plants with due scientific criteria.
In addition, given the safe condition of the powdered milk food and referring to the recommendations of the World Organization for Animal Health (WHOA) from the zoosanitary point of view that indicates that the risks of transmitting diseases are insignificant, plants in Argentina were given an extension for one year.
The Minister of Agricultural Development, Augusto Valderrama, pointed out that relations between the two countries have also been normalized during, he explained the elimination of the Panamanian Food Safety Authority (AUPSA), an entity that favored imports above national production which was transformed into a new entity that is the Panamanian Food Authority (APA).
Meanwhile, the director of Animal Health of the Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA), Concepción Santos Sanjur, explained the procedures that Panama has established in its sanitary standards for these import processes of origin and the national regulations on meat products.
For her part, Argentina’s ambassador to Panama, Sandra Rosana Pitta, thanked the attention and interest in working on the exchange processes, and also offered support to the Panamanian agricultural sector.
