About 30 companies participated in the previous meeting and homologation on the basis of the prequalification of the project “Rehabilitation, Improvement and Maintenance of the West Pan-American Highway” (CPO), structured under the modality of Public-Private Association (APP), work estimated at a cost of US$300 million.
Sources from the Ministry of Public Works reported during the prequalification process, natural and legal persons, national and foreign, either individually or as a consortium, who meet the requirements and are interested in participating in the process, must demonstrate their financial capacity, technical experience and legal capacity, according to the criteria established in the prequalification bases, approved by the Governing Body of the APP Regime.
The project consists of a length of 206 kilometers from La Chorrera, to Santiago, in the provinces of Panama Oeste and Veraguas, respectively. It is structured in two sections: the first covers from El Espino to the city of Penonomé (100 kilometers), and the second from Penonomé to Santiago (106 kilometers).
It is also estimated that this project will benefit about 450,000 people. The MOP announced that those interested in the project will be able to submit their proposals to pre-qualify until Monday, September 4, 2023.
