New David Highway to be finished this year, finally!!

News from Panama / Tuesday, January 15th, 2013

We drove to David this week and we were delighted to see the road crews back at work after a their vacation (let’s renegotiate our contract break!!).  So, we will  finally see the end of a multiyear project that will cut the transit time from Boquete to David to under 30 minutes  when complete.  Now, with a lot of the highway completed already, we can make it to town in 45 minuets so it is huge improvement.

David has grown so much in the 6 years that we have lived here and now we can find anything we need in the way of shopping, services, healthcare and more.  The city is growing still as we see old building torn down making the way for new shopping centers and office buildings.  So, we will now have a new International Airport, a new highway connecting David with Boquete and an exploding middle class in Chiriqui.  Yep, it is definitely a time to invest in commercial real estate in David and property in Chiriqui in general.  Mark this down another venue for my self directed IRA.

We drove onto the Pan American Highway and I decided to let the camera roll as we drove out west of town to the Chiriqui Mall where I was able to renew my driver’s license in less than an hour.  You have got to love the irony as I enter the Mall going the wrong way on a one way street driving right by the drivers test station, hah!  Senior moment, thank you!!

More on David later this month as we take you on a shopping tour of our department stores in David.

For your camera enthusiasts, I got a GoPro HD camera for Christmas and have attached mounts to my golf cart, my car and can take underwater shots fishing and more.  I have decided not to strap it on a helmet and jump out of a plane but the video below is impressive, maybe next year!!
