Panama Big Game Club’s New Navy

News from Panama / Tuesday, August 28th, 2012

There are two ways to fish here in Panama.  Well maybe now there are a lot more like, comfort, speed, luxury and with all the toys available.  Panama Big Game Club has by far the best equipped fleet of vessels if you want to have it all.  I visited with the owner Mark Charman this last weekend at the Club and he showed me his latest addition that he brought over from his home in Dubia.  40 feet of luxury that does 45 knots cruising through the seas like a mill pond.  He has forward looking radar that will show individual birds at great distances, underwater sonar that can identify a fish bladder at 200 fathoms and a disco array or underwater lights for a cocktail cruise around Boca Chica harbor listening to some great tunes.    Mr. C, as he is known and I chatted about how he is quickly booking up next year’s prime fishing season while my wife Susie and his wife Karen or Mrs. C, as she is known bonded and watched the monkeys play above the infinity pool where we enjoyed cocktails.

The fleet is quite impressive and one of my favorite boats is the classic 31 Bertram Sport Fish shown in the background that he has re furbished including the installation of new twin Cummins diesel engines that move this boat out at 28 knots in dry comfort.  He has some great bean bags to lie around in that make the ride out to the prime fishing grounds a joy.   And this boat raises fish!  See my Father’s day trip on this boat in my post back in June Panama Big Game Club

Here are some other boats that he has to offer.

Well, I hope that you have a chance to come experience the prime fishing grounds off of the Chiriqui Coast and if you want to do it in style, Panama Big Game Club is the place to stay.  Just tell Mr C that I sent you and he will make sure you are well received as with all of his guests.  So for now, Susie and I depart for our home in the highlands an hour and a half away.  What a life in Paradise.

PS:  Another one that did not get away!!!  This was caught last week by a father and grandson team – Mega Tuna!!
