Taxation specialists from different continents are meeting in Panama City, at the third conference of the Network of Tax Organizations (NTO), entitled: “Navigating the Digital Tax Panorama: electronic commerce, collaborative platforms and crypto-asset trade”, an activity inaugurated by the Deputy Director General of Revenue, in charge, Guillermo Luis López.
He stressed that the Republic of Panama, due to its geographical position, has been consolidated as a meeting point for international debates, such as electronic commerce and cryptoassets, and I invite participants to take advantage of the dialogue, for the benefit of tax administrations.
The global context marked by technological advances, makes it essential in the face of the emergence of crypto-asset platforms, the study of them from the perspective of taxation, Lopez stressed.
The Network of Tax Organizations (NTO), which brings together 10 regional and international tax organizations, is used as a global platform for the exchange of experiences, knowledge and best practices in tax administration. In Panama, organizations from Africa, Europe, Asia and America are currently debating.
The international conclave takes place from February 18 to 20, some of the networks of the NTO are: African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF), Association of Tax Authorities of Islamic Countries, Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations (CIAT), Intra-European Organization of Tax Administration (IOTA), among others.
