The Directorate of Legal and Justice of the Mayor’s Office of Panama carried out an operation against noise on November 30 in the sectors of San Francisco, Tocumen, 24 de Diciembre, Juan Díaz, Bella Vista and San Felipe.
In this operation, two shops were cited after measuring noise levels, in addition, the closure of two other premises was ordered for violating Municipal Agreement 141 of September 23, 2014.
The Municipal Agreement establishes regulations to prevent and apply noise control measures, whose emission affects and disturbs health and prevents the rest of residents of the capital district.
According to the document, from 6:00 in the morning until 9:59 at night, noise levels must not exceed 60 decibels, and from 10:00 at night to 5:59 in the morning, they must not exceed 50 decibels.
Any person affected by excessive noise can report the fact, without any formality, to the justice of the peace of the area or to the National Police. The Panama Mayor’s Office and the Ministry of Health work in a coordinated manner to address the problem of excessive noise.
