In an effort to promote the transition of microentrepreneurs from informality to formality and outline a growth strategy, the Ministry of Commerce and Industries (MICI) and the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Authority (AMPYME), will work together.

In this sense, the AMPYME presented to the MICI a pilot plan aimed at evaluating microenterprises with future growth potential, so both entities agreed to focus their efforts on preparing and facilitating tools such as the search for business intelligence information and other key actions.

This collaboration will be formalized through the signing of an inter-institutional agreement that will detail the steps to promote the creation of new exporters.

According to the Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade, Carlos Hoyos, they have agreed to work in a coordinated way to strengthen the microentrepreneurs who already export, as well as identify those with great potential to do so, accompanying them throughout the process. “From the MICI we will provide our experience in export processes and all our operational capacity to formalize their businesses,” Hoyos said.

For his part, the designated administrator of the AMPYME, Raúl Fernández, stressed that this joint collaboration marks the beginning of an agreement between both government entities to formalize ventures and facilitate their entry into the international market, which will boost the country’s exports, generating employment and promoting economic growth.

Among the products with the greatest export potential are cocoa, craft beers and mango pulp, among others.
