The market for credit cards and digital wallets has experienced a revolution in payments in Panama in recent years. In 2023, approximately 330 million transactions were recorded, 30 million more than in 2022, according to recent data.

This boom in electronic payments has strengthened financial inclusion, especially benefiting entrepreneurs and small producers. Experts from the financial sector predict that this trend will continue to evolve, marking the beginning of a new stage in the region.

At the moment, in Latin America, the payment market has been concentrated on mobile applications. However, specialists anticipate that the next innovation in the sector will be the implementation of payments with biometric security, considered the latest trend in financial technology.
