Panama is working to turn the country into a Pharmaceutical Research and Innovation Hub

Representatives of the global pharmaceutical company Roche and which is part of the regime of Headquarters of Multinational Companies (SEM), met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade, Carlos Hoyos Boyd, in order to turn Panama into a Hub of pharmaceutical research and innovation and a center of economic attraction.

This public-private collaboration is aimed at promoting the country’s sustainable and long-term growth in the scientific and medical field at the regional level, marking a significant milestone in the scientific and economic development of Panama.

During the meeting, issues were discussed about the positive impact that the promotion of clinical studies in the Panamanian health sector could have, and according to Deputy Minister Hoyos, this initiative will not only expand opportunities for patients, but also consolidate Panama as a center for biomedical innovation and pharmaceutical investment in the region.

For their part, Roche’s representatives announced their interest in collaborating with the government to establish an innovation and development center for the pharmaceutical industry, which not only attracts foreign investment, but also strengthens education and training in science and health among Panamanian citizens.
