The president-elect of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino, visited the facilities of the National Oncological Institute (ION) this Friday morning where he reaffirmed his commitment to improvements in infrastructure and the care of oncology patients throughout the country.

“My visit confirms and reiterates my commitment to this important center for the country,” said the president-elect who was accompanied by the designated Minister of Health, Fernando Boyd Galindo.

Mulino referred to the construction of a new hospital and the authorization of oncological care in all regions of the country.

“The idea is to be able to supply the entire country with facilities so that its treatment can be given inside and buy the necessary buses to transport them for free,” he said.

The president-elect avoided referring to an exact date for the construction of the new cancer hospital, however, he assured that he uses the necessary resources to advance this project.

“This is a very delicate construction. The only thing I do want to tell the country is that the money of the political sty will enter this type of project,” Mulino said.

Mulino met with the ION admission where it was agreed to continue with the tender for the new hospital. Mulino also received comments about the location of the new hospital.

Likewise, he found the lack of medical capacity to treat this disease at the national level and the agglomeration in the ION due to demand.

The appointed Minister of Health, Fernando Boyd Galindo, assured that his administration will have specific plans to guarantee the care of the patients of the oncology hospital.
