Panamanian businessmen strengthen commercial ties in Panama-Texas Triangle Mission

News from Panama / Friday, May 31st, 2024

With a representation of more than 30 Panamanian companies, the United States-Panama (USPA), in collaboration with PROPANAMA, has coordinated a commercial and economic development mission called “Panama – Texas Triangle”, which will take place from June 19 to 21, 2024.

During the last four years, USPA and PROPANAMA have worked on the promotion of a Strategic Alliance between Panama and Texas, highlighting Texas as Panama’s main trading and investment partner in the United States. This relationship has been strengthened especially through the historical link between the Port of Houston and the Panama Canal.

The mission will cover sectors that promote synergies between Texas and Panama, such as maritime transport, air transport, hospitality, energy, education, infrastructure, commerce and technology, among others.

The commercial mission highlights the growing connection between Bush Intercontinental Airport and Tocumen Airport, as well as the significant presence of Texan companies in Panama, including Dell Technologies, Caterpillar, American Airlines, Halliburton, Kimberly Clark, Bell Helicopter and Sysco. In addition, United Airlines and Chevron have their headquarters for Latin America in Houston, and the Port of Houston maintains an office for Latin America in Panama. Reflecting this close relationship, COPA Airlines started direct flights to Austin, Texas in July 2023.
