News from Panama / Friday, April 19th, 2024

According to the projections of the National Council of Housing Developers (Convivienda) the year 2024 will close with 10,071 units sold and a profit of US$962 million, significantly exceeding the figures of 2023.

For Convivienda, the growth of the sector continues to be positive, since in the report of “Results 2023 and projections 2024”, presented recently the figures show that despite the obstacles, the sector since the figures of homes sold for 2023 was 7,867, with a profit of US$749 million, with a growth of 18% compared to the year 2022.

Likewise, it is expected that sales in this 2024 will be concentrated in all the ranges that are within the preferential interest, but above all at this time 92% of the market is in the range of up to US$80,000 which is the range where the Housing Solidarity Bond is.

Regarding the legislative changes, the housing sector guild considers that the range of the law that regulates the preferential interest for apartments that do not exceed US$180,000 should be revised, to try to reduce it since the Panamanian buys where the preferential interest is and that is why it is important to analyze its limits.
