News from Panama / Friday, February 2nd, 2024

The Panama Metro moved the first single-rail train destined for Line 3 of the Port of Manzanillo, in Colón, to the Patios and Workshops area, in Ciudad del Futuro, La Chorrera.

The entity highlighted that this train, which is part of the project to connect the province of Panama and West Panama, has successfully passed the factory tests in Japan, where it comes from and will be the first to be assembled in Panama.

It was said that this first unit will be subjected to various procedures, including assembly and static and dynamic tests. The results of these tests, which will be extended for several months, will serve as a reference for the other units that are still in the manufacturing process in Japan.

This train is part of a fleet of 26 units that will operate on Line 3, benefiting approximately 500,000 residents of the province of West Panama.

The Panama Metro also detailed the route established according to the Traffic Management Plan approved by the Transit and Land Transport Authority:

Starting from Puerto Manzanillo in the province of Colón, it will continue on Randolph Avenue towards the Madden-Colón Highway. It will continue through the North Corridor, taking the exit towards the Centenario road and continuing towards the Arraiján-La Chorrera Highway.

Finally, it will take the access of Hato Montaña to enter the Pan-American Highway until you reach Patios and Workshops, in Ciudad del Futuro in Western Panama.
