The DGI introduces new ‘Verify your Tax Compliance’ service for taxpayers

News from Panama / Friday, January 26th, 2024

The General Directorate of Revenue (DGI), of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), reported that it has implemented a new service called “Verify your Tax Compliance” to make it easier for taxpayers to review their tax obligations on a voluntary basis.

Through this button on the official website (dgi.mef.gob.pa), taxpayers can know the status of their tax compliance and regularize any pending situation.

Jorge Vergara, head of Tax Information Systems of the DGI, reported that, although the consultation process is public, the information about the tax status is not displayed directly on the page, but is sent to the email registered by the taxpayer in the DGI.

The button is located after the information banner on the DGI website. When you click, a page with informative steps is displayed, and at the end a “consult” button is highlighted. The taxpayer can enter their RUC or name, and after clicking on search, he will receive an immediate message indicating that the information was sent to his registered email.

DGI sources indicated that in case of disagreement with the information provided, the taxpayer can contact the institution through the email dgiaclaraciones@mef.gob.pa.

This initiative, in operation since January 17, 2024, seeks to provide taxpayers with a more direct, timely and efficient way to verify their tax compliance, thus avoiding the publication in lists of defaulters that the DGI can carry out according to current legislation.
