COPA reactivates Boeing 737 MAX-9 aircraft flights

News from Panama / Friday, January 26th, 2024

The Panamanian Aviation Company (COPA) will be gradually reactivating from this January 25, flights that had been previously canceled, until returning to a full itinerary on Sunday, January 28.

This reactivation is due to the fact that the Panamanian airline has received authorization for the twenty-one Boeing 737 MAX-9 aircraft that had been temporarily suspended, following the Aeronavigability Guideline issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States, completed the required inspection process and can return to operate under the highest levels of safety.

The inspections are being carried out by professional COPA technicians, following quality standards and with the supervision of the Civil Aviation Authority (AAC) of Panama, so it is estimated that this process will be completed within the next 24 hours.

Similarly, COPA reported that it is offering new options for passengers whose itineraries have been affected: Passengers who have confirmed a new travel itinerary will be able to switch to a new flight at no additional charge, if they wish.

Also passengers who do not yet have a new travel itinerary confirmed after their original flight was affected, will be able to choose a new flight by calling the call center or approaching a sales office, airport or their travel agency. And passengers whose tickets are already in the refund process and wish to travel, will have to buy a new ticket.

The Airline maintains the recommendation to its passengers to check the status of their flight on copa.com or in the mobile application, before heading to the airport. Copa Airlines reiterates that its top priority is the safety of its passengers and crews, while appreciating the understanding of all those involved while this situation is normalized.
