BCIE and OHCHR join fores to strengthen human rights in Central America

With the aim of strengthening the rights of Central American people, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (BCIE) and the Regional Office for Central America and the Caribbean of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), agreed on a strategic alliance in the field of Human Rights.

The alliance will focus on addressing the key challenges that affect the Central American region in the field of human rights, which is why given the specialization of OHCHR in this field, the BCIE seeks to exchange experiences and promote spaces for dialogue and the search for solutions through training and specialized technical assistance.

The executive president of the BCIE, Gisela Sánchez, pointed out that this alliance is a sign of the commitment to Human Rights and the positive transformation they have undertaken in the BCIE.

“It also reflects with concrete facts, our interest in strengthening the principles of human rights and the prosperity of the Central American region,” Sánchez added.

He also reiterated that the alliance shows the dedication of the BCIE to promote and safeguard the fundamental principles that constitute the basis of the dignity and rights of all people.

In addition, it expresses its commitment not only to these essential values, but also to the active contribution to the strengthening of inclusive and equitable societies and the promotion of sustainable development that has the protection of human rights as a fundamental theme.
