InteRed has signed an agreement with Panama Digital Gateway for the installation of an Internet Exchange Point in the Sparkle data center in Panama.

With the aim of managing the IP traffic exchange node in Panama and related activities that result in the common benefit of its membership and other actors involved in this regard, InteRed has signed an agreement with Panama Digital Gateway for the installation of an Internet Exchange Point (IXP) in the Sparkle data center in Panama.

According to the president of InteRed, José Hernández, the agreement between the company he represents and Panama Digital Gateway, is of great importance for the development, transformation and creation of Panama’s digital ecosystem.

“Thanks to this strategic alliance, InteRed will be at the center of connectivity, reinforcing Panama’s position as the Digital Hub of the Americas,” Hernández said.

For his part, Gustavo Lagrotta, General Manager of Panama Digital Gateway, pointed out that the presence of InteRed in the data center is a very important piece in transforming Panama’s digital ecosystem, and that being part of this development in Panama is something that makes them proud.

InteRed Panama was founded in 1997 with the initiative and support of the National Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation (SENACYT), and the Interuniversity Hemispheric Network of Scientific and Technological Information (RedHUCyT) program of the OAS.

Panama Digital Gateway is a state-of-the-art neutral data center with a cable landing station and free zone in Panama that aims to become the digital hub for all of Central America, the Andean region and the Caribbean. Integrated with Sparkle’s global infrastructure, Panama Digital Gateway is the arrival point of Curie, the cable system developed by Google and Sparkle that connects California with Chile.
