A committee is set up to promote the Gulf of Chiriquí as a tourist destination

With the installation of the Destination Management Committee at the national level, work began to promote and consolidate the Gulf of Chiriquí as a tourist destination, complying with goal 3 of the Master Plan of Sustainable Tourism: “Achieve a more decentralized Tourism.

This committee is made up of local government authorities, merchants in the area and representatives of the Boca Chica community, who were immediately involved in the next steps to improve the quality of life of the residents, and in turn the tourist experience of those who visit this complementary destination.

The General Administrator of the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP), Denise Guillén, highlighted the great tourist potential that this destination of the country represents as a point of interest for adventure tourism and nautical tourism, in addition to positioning herself as a destination for the sighting of cetaceans, one of the seasonal species on the Panamanian coast.

“We are working on the planning process of this destination, from this moment on in a coordinated work between the private sector, the tourism service providers, together with us as industry facilitators we will guarantee more economic impact to this region of the country,” Guillén said.

Regarding the implementation of this committee, the president of the Community Base Organization of Boca Chica, Aristotle Almengor, was confident about the advances in terms of sustainable tourism that this organization can represent, guaranteeing an opportunity for present and future generations to improve their quality of life.
