Wingo launches its first flight between Panama Pacific and David

News from Panama / Friday, August 11th, 2023

The Wingo airline inaugurated this Friday its new connection between Panama Pacific Airport and the city of David, in the province of Chiriquí.

Wingo’s new flight represents an important step in the development of regional aeronautical infrastructure, which benefits thousands of travelers nationally and internationally, facilitating the development of tourism and business activity in the region.

Wingo announced that the new route will be available with promotional launch rates on Fridays and Sundays, offering flights on Boeing 737-800 Next Generation aircraft, with capacity for 186 passengers.

The idea is that the route becomes an alternative for those who seek to mobilize during the weekend between the two main cities of Panama.

This new destination to David, Chiriquí adds to the current international network offered by Wingo from Panama and that includes destinations such as Barranquilla, Cartagena, Bogotá, Medellín and Cali, in Colombia, Havana, Cuba, and San José, Costa Rica.

The administration of Tocumen S.A. also expressed its satisfaction with the addition of this new destination, which facilitates the internal connection of the country.

“The opening of this new route by Wingo expands the options and competition for the benefit of passengers traveling to or from Chiriquí, while contributing to the tourism and logistical development of the country,” said Raffoul Arab, general manager of Tocumen S.A.

The Panama Pacific-David route will be the first to be operated by Wingo Panama, an airline with a Panamanian operating certificate and endorsed by the Civil Aeronautical Authority of Panama.

The Enrique Malek International Airport in the province of Chiriquí has mobilized a total of 98,865 travelers from January to June 2023.

This represents an increase of 4.6% compared to the same period of the previous year.
