Mooring in Paradise

News from Panama / Friday, September 23rd, 2011

A friend of mine is selling his 60 foot Hatteras Yacht- Fish that is moored in Boca del Toro.   While it is one of  the famous Hatteras configurations, he has spent over $200,000 modifying the boat to be a pure live-aboard vessel.  It is fully operational and is like having a floating apartment that you can move if you want to change your address.  It is in very good condition for a 36 year old vessel and he did a complete overhaul of the mechanical electrical systems.  The vessel is a  Panamanian registered and flagged vessel held in a Panamanian Corporation.

The main salon is very comfortable and has teak flooring.

The galley is spacious and has all the fixtures and appliances including a freezer and refrigerator.   Refrigeration is a 12 volt under cabinet marine unit, Freezer on top and Fridge below, stainless steel drawer style.   Salon floor is solid Chiriqui TEAK.  Cabinets tops are silistone Granite.  All exterior decks are Flexiteek Yacht Deck.

OK, now for the guy stuff!!

While you can move it from one locale to another, he decided to install a large floating platform and buy a day boat for fishing and exploring and he even has a large native canoe as well.  The engines are  Detroit Diesels, 871-V 435 HP turbo-charged.  One of the most reliable marine engines ever used in big boats.  He spared no expense in having these engines made like new.

The yacht has a 40 gallon per hour water maker and he is in the process of adding  a rain water-catchment which will further reduce the use of the Gen-set.  The generator is the new 12KW Fischer Panda. Very small and quiet.  It is approaching 500 hours after almost 3 years of service and burns about a quart of diesel per hour.   There is enough diesel on board to last many years (around 700 gallons).

In the picture below, you can see the hard-top that was added in San Diego.  It holds 8 Sharp 180 watt solar panels which charge the battery bank.  He recently reduced the battery bank from 16 to 10 deep cycle batteries.  Very efficient and he can be off the grid entirely with this setup.  Both AC and DC panels are in excellent condition.

With over $400,000 invested, he is asking only $259,000.   For further information contact me at 305-448-1003 or in Panama at 507-6810-1074.
