Panama celebrates Space Week

News from Panama / Friday, October 7th, 2022

The Embassy of the United States and the City of Knowledge, together with the Panama American Center and the Panamanian Association of Astronomy Fans, launched their calendar of interactive activities to celebrate Space Week, promoting scientific curiosity, knowledge and innovation.

Global Space Week is celebrated worldwide from October 4 to 10, and activities in the City of Knowledge will last until October 27.

The program begins on October 7 with the exhibition ‘Visions of the Future’, which invites you to imagine tourism trips to space through the collection of posters designed by artists from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

The exhibition can be seen in La Plaza de la Ciudad del Saber until October 27, 2022.

“One of the strong ties that unite Panama and the United States is our commitment to enhance the talent of our people through education, which is the goal of the Panama American Center. That’s why we offer these activities to learn more about space. The exhibition we bring from NASA is the result of those ties that unite us, since it is achieved thanks to the Panamanian scientist Ericka Podest, who from NASA studies planet Earth. We hope to inspire young and old to learn more about the planets, the sun and the moon, and to awaken innovative ideas and the desire to learn more,” said Carmen Arakelian, the new cultural aggregate of the U.S. Embassy in Panama.

On October 8 and 14, guided tours will be offered to a mobile planetarium, which will be located in the auditorium of the City of Knowledge Convention Center.
