Panama Celebrates 117 Years as a Republic and 199 Years of Independence

News from Panama / Monday, November 16th, 2020

On the commemoration of the National Day of the Republic of Panama celebrating 117 years as a Republic and 199 years of Independence from Spain, some festivities have been scheduled throughout the month of November.

The Government of the Republic of Panama through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Panama in the Hellenic Republic are pleased to invite you to enjoy the celebration of the National Month of Panama 2020 (Mes de la Patria) through a Virtual Cultural Program due to the established sanitary recommendations to prevent the propagation of the pandemic.

The program will be released on a weekly basis throughout the month of November:

• November 2: 117 years a Republic—a historical narrative.
• November 8: Multicultural Panama—cultural heritage through music.
• November 15: Creative Panama—music, dance & crafts.
• November 22: Nature Panama—marine life.

We hope the organized Panamanian Cultural Encounters bring you closer to the natural beauty and Panama’s history as a multicultural experience with music.

As part of the commemoration festivities, the historic Municipal Theatre of Piraeus was lit with the colors of the Panama flag on November 3rd.
