In 2019, 20 environmental impact studies were submitted to build hospitals, clinics and other health care centers in the countries of the region, projects valued at $340 million.

The interactive platform “Construction in Central America“, of the Trade Intelligence Unit of CentralAmericaData, includes an updated list of public and private construction projects that present environmental impact studies (EIS) to the respective institutions in each country.

Panama was the country that last year concentrated the largest investment, with nearly $179 million in infrastructure construction projects to provide medical services, corresponding to five environmental impact studies submitted from January to December 2019. One of the most relevant projects is the construction of a five-level hospital.

In Costa Rica, eight studies were presented, totaling about $114 million in investment. Among the buildings that stand out is the “Hospital Dr. Maximiliano Peralta Jiménez.”

In El Salvador, three hospital projects are planned that will require some $35 million in investment. In the case of Guatemala, studies were processed for the construction of several health posts.
