Requirements for Cement in Panama

One of the approved technical standards establishes the chemical, physical, and performance requirements of general and specialty cements for both imported and locally produced products.

Ministerial resolutions also include packaging, transportation, storage and use requirements. The standard can be purchased by the interested public at the Standards Information Center of the General Directorate of Standards and Technology of MICI, an official source reported.

07-29-2019.  In order to guarantee the safety of constructions in the national territory, the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Ramón Martínez, signed two ministerial resolutions aimed at improving the requirements and quality standards of cement, both for cement produced in Panama and imported cement.

These are Technical Standard DGNTI-COPANIT 5-2019 Building, Construction Materials, Hydraulic Cement and Technical Regulation DGNTI-COPANIT-90-2019 Evaluation of Conformity for Cement Commercialization, both normative documents were submitted to a period of public discussion at the national level, with the participation of both the public and private sectors and notified at the international level.
