Three years after the global economic downturn, tourists are once again looking at Central America.

This is clear from the information provided by the World Tourism Organization, whose data points to Costa Rica as the largest recipient of tourists in Central America, having received 2.1 million visitors in 2010, equivalent to $2111 million in foreign exchange.

A report in Prensa.com.ni notes: “In 2009, according to the World Tourism Barometer, Central American countries were visited by 7.64 million tourists, who contributed to the economies of those countries something in the region $6,122 million.”
