American Expat in Costa Rica Lance Clinton Competes in Panama Kayak Fishing World Championship 2019

Jaco Beach resident and super kayaker Lance Clinton leaves New Year’s Day for Panama as one of 12 finalists selected worldwide to compete in the annual “winner-take-all” Los Buzos Panama Kayak Fishing World Championship 2019.

Clinton, 49, a former stock broker from Seattle, was chosen by the event’s organizers as Costa Rica’s top kayak fisherman. He turned professional four years ago and is sponsored by numerous fishing and sporting goods manufacturers.

The Los Buzos Kayak Fishing Championship series is designed to seek out the best 12 kayak anglers from around the globe and face them off against each other on equal footing at one of the best offshore kayak angling locations in the world — Los Buzos Resort — Panama.

With qualifying events held in Panama, plus winners from several of the largest kayak fishing tournaments around the world and a few handpicked expert anglers seen as the best to represent their home countries — this tournament is sure to prove who some of the best kayak anglers in the world really are.

The tournament’s final round is being held at the Los Buzos Resort January 5-11 2019 where 12 international kayak anglers from 7 different countries will compete for the grand prize of $10,000 USD – winner take all!

The best kayak fishermen from Australia, Canada, Costa Rica, Germany, Singapore, Switzerland and the United States will compete in the 7-day tournament.

Jaco Beach became Clinton’s home 20 years ago. Kayaking first became an adventure hobby, a means for keeping fit and satisfies his love of preparing fresh Pacific Ocean fish at home. He makes a killer ceviche. He is known locally as “The King of Playa Jaco.”
