Mia Taylor at Travel Pulse reports that The Buenaventura Golf & Beach Resort in Panama debuted a new Coffee Corner and specialty craft beer bar where guests and groups are invited to savor the country’s finest exports.
Featuring locally-sourced Panamanian coffee and local beer, the Buenaventura continues to be a leading destination authority resort by integrating its local culture to the guest experience with this new tasting offering.
Coffee is a large part of the Panamanian culture as generations of skill go into each step of the harvesting and processing, making the flavor and characteristics unique to the region in which it is grown. Incorporating this culture into the Buenaventura, the new Coffee Corner, serves only the finest Panamanian coffee, Geisha and Catuai, locally grown at the coffee farm, Finca Lerida.
Located in the resort’s Cana restaurant, the Coffee Corner opens from morning to night for those visitors up early for a sunrise golf tee-time or finishing dinner with a palette cleanser.
Although well-known coffee styles are available, guests can explore unique options such as an ice blended coffee with whiskey cream, hazelnut liqueur, and chocolate, or a hot coffee with rum, sugar and vanilla to set the vacation mood.
A growing industry in Panama, craft beer is making a name with breweries and microbreweries opening around the region from Panama City to Boquete.
The specialty beer bar at The Buenaventura aims to give visitors the opportunity to learn the art and history of beer and its variety of more than 50 beers from around the world, as well as locally brewed options.
Flavorful beers like Chivoperro, Atrevida, Apasionada and Fula were thoughtfully chosen to represent the country with their refreshing qualities and unique-to-Panama flavors. Guests who don’t want to commit to one beer can opt for a beer flight to discover their favorite choice.
“Our mission is to bring the culture of Panama to the resort from the locally crafted art installations and design to the food and drink,” said Victor Concepcion, general manager of The Buenaventura Golf & Beach Resort. “The new coffee and beer offerings take the Buenaventura experience to the next level in providing a sense of place for visitors to taste and smell the same things that locals do.”
Tailored completely for any group’s needs, both coffee and beer tastings can be arranged for groups of up to 20 people by request. The experience can be done in a hands-on fashion or as a demonstration allowing guests to focus on the tastes and flavors of the beverages themselves.
Other beverage tastings offered at The Buenaventura include a Ron Abuelo’s rum tasting and pairing at Hacienda San Isidro. The rum tour takes visitors through the sugar cane fields, into the distillery and the bodega where the rum ages in oak barrels.
In addition to the coffee and beer experience at the resort, Buenaventura is home to award-winning master mixologist Miguel Diaz, known for his carefully crafted cocktails and astounding entertainment.
On a typical day at Buenaventura, you can find Miguel at the hotel’s casual spot Palapa Bar creating new cocktail recipes by incorporating local fresh ingredients such as passion fruit and locally distilled alcohol from sugar cane called “seco.”
