A little more than a month after the Panamanian government decided to raise import tariffs on various products as a measure of retaliation against the South American country, representatives from both governments reaffirmed their positions at a WTO hearing.
The outcome of the hearing will be announced by the WTO between August and September, according to the rules that govern the agency.

From a statement issued by the Ministry of Trade and Industry:
MICI 20-3-2018. Panama today reaffirmed its position against the measures adopted by Colombia that affect imports of clothing and footwear re-exported from the Colon Free Zone, during the hearing of the Panel of Referees at the World Trade Organization (WTO) which was held in Geneva.
The hearing was attended by teams from Panama and Colombia, this hearing is part of a process where Colombia has failed to comply with the ruling in favor of Panama, issued by the Dispute Settlement Body of the WTO and which was also confirmed by the Appellate Body of said organization.
