The Metro authorities are considering the possibility of extending Line 3 to Costa Verde, in the district of La Chorrera, instead of to Ciudad del Futuro, in Arraiján, as originally planned.
The executive secretary of the Panama Metro, Roberto Roy, told Prensa.com that the idea is to build an interchange at Costa Verde, province of La Chorrera. If the plan comes to fruition, Line 3 will go all the way to the province of La Chorrera and not just to Arraiján.

Roy explained that “… the interchange, meaning where people change their method of transport …Costa Verde could be one of the options to be able to have a large interchange center in the western area. He added that this proposal needs to be discussed with the technical team, but ‘it is a really logical and good alternative.’“
The next step will be to carry out detailed feasibility analysis to estimate the investment that would be needed to extend the Metro line to the province of La Chorrera. The project for the design and construction of Line 3 has an approximate value of $2.6 billion, and at the end of September the seven prequalified companies in the running to develop the work will be announced.
