Panama: $1.64 billion in New Constructions

In the first nine months of the year, the value of construction permits, additions and repairs totaled $1.64 billion, 18% more than in the same period in 2016.

The most recent figures from the Comptroller General’s Office show that the value of new construction, additions and repairs reported between January and September exceeded $1.6 billion, 28% more than the $1.397 billion recorded in the same period in 2016.

The figures are led by the province of Panama, with $1.184 billion, followed by Arraiján, with $134 million, Colón, with $100 million, and Santiago, David, Chitré, Aguadulce and La Chorrera, with $225 million.

As for the type of construction, $1,022 million worth of permits for constructions, additions and repairs were registered for in residential projects, of which $980 million corresponded to new constructions.

In the case of non-residential buildings, the value of permits was $619 million.

Most residential and non-residential projects were concentrated in the province of Panama, with $812 million and $371 million, respectively.
