Panama: Construction Figures – January 2017

The value of buildings, additions and repairs registered in January totaled $120 million, making a total of 180 thousand square meters, led by the districts of Panama and Colon.

The figure recorded in January this year is 25% lower than it was in the same month last year, when the total value of new construction was $161 million, making a total of 418 thousand square meters.

In the first month of this year registrations of new construction, repairs and additions totaled $120,120,107, with the greatest value in the district of Panama, with $41 million, followed by Colon, with $29 million. In Panama 81,813 square meters were registered, and 29,835,417 square meters were recorded in Colon.

Figures from the General Comptroller also point out that construction in the residential sector had the highest share in total, with 98,153 square meters, while in non-residential buildings, 81,876 square meters were registered.
