Etesa said it plans to tender in August preliminary studies for the construction of a fourth electricity transmission line, for which funding is already being prepared.

Panamaamerica.com.pa reports that “…The assistant manager of Empresa de Transmisión Eléctrica (Etesa), Gustavo Bernal, said they have already obtained authorization from the Board to initiate preliminary studies for a fourth transmission line, which will be put out to tender on August 26.”

This announcement comes days after Etesa unveiled that it is preparing two issues of $350 million and $500 million on the New York Stock Exchange to finance the fourth transmission line and carry out improvement works on existing lines.

“… Bernal explained that these studies include four categories: creating an aerial survey, acquisition of easements, environmental impact study and preliminary design of the Line. He stressed that the tender for the construction of the fourth line could start in late 2017. “
