Up to December 2015 4.429 more new vehicles were sold than in 2014, representing an increase of 7.3%. Total sales of new cars in Panama grew by 7.3% up to December 2015, going from 60,306 new cars sold in 2014 to 64,735 sold last year, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC).
The largest annual increases occurred in the minivan segment (61.5%), trucks (23.2%), pick up trucks (12.2%), SUVs (11.1%), luxury cars (4.3 %) and regular automobiles (4.2%).
The two segments which decreased in the period under analysis were buses, which fell from 1,701 units in 2014 to 1,309 in 2015 (-23%), and mini vans, which went from 1,446 units in 2014 to 1,345 in 2015 (-7% ).
