My daughter will be moving to Dubai next year and she plans on visiting me here on this flight. 17 hours and 35 minutes! Put me under please!

Emirates is offering special pre-launch fares for its Dubai to Panama route, which will start from February 1.

The route, operated by a Boeing 777-200 LR, will take a whopping 17 hours and 35 minutes, making it the longest in the world.

Emirates said that fares would start from Dh7,205 in economy class and Dh20,250 in business class when booked for travel between February 1 and March 23.

The special fare offer is extended to 12 other cities including Cancun, Mexico City, Kingston and Havana, with connections offered via Panama City.

The Dubai to Panama route’s title as world’s longest may be short-lived after Singapore Airlines in October announced that it had ordered the new ultra-long range Airbus A350-900ULR.

This would allow it to fly direct to New York – a distance of 8,700 miles which would take up to 19 hours – and also to the US West Coast.

Singapore Airlines is scheduled to take delivery of seven ultra-long range A350-900s in 2018.

The world’s longest flight is currently Qantas Airways’ Sydney to Dallas service using the Airbus A380, which takes 16 hours 55 minutes on the return trip.
