This is an incredible video I watched this week.  Anybody want to go for a dip??

A family got their children out of the water quickly after noticing activity just off the shoreline in Panama City on Sunday. It turned out to be hundreds of sharks, and the hour-long spectacle drew dozens to the beach to watch.

Blake Whitlow filmed the video.  He said he couldn’t tell what it was at first.

“My reaction was kind of calm. I thought it was kind of neat — at first I thought it was porpoises,” said Whitlow.  “Then, after we figured out they were sharks, my wife quickly tried to get the kids out of the raft, on to the beach.”

His wife Tyra got the kids to safety.  Then they noticed more activity closer in, about 50 yards to their right.  The sharks were much closer, one of them coming up on the beach for a moment.

“I knew I wouldn’t have very long. I ran while I was filming — I was amazed that one kind of came on shore, a man tried to help it,” Whitlow said.

“The water looked like it was boiling, with the school of fish being attacked.  All the sharks were about three to five feet long — I couldn’t tell what type.  It lasted for about an hour.”

Whitlow said the beach was almost deserted before this started.  Within the hour it lasted, dozens of people staying along the beach came out to watch and film video.

“It was unreal.  Most people were out of towners and couldn’t believe it,” he added.

Whitlow and his family recently lived in New Hope, Alabama. They’ve moved to the Panama City area.
