Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of meeting Roberto Duran Sr. who announced in an email that he was paying me a visit here in Boquete.  My mind was racing and after speaking to him for a little on the phone, I had to ask him “are you the boxer?” Well Roberto has a great sense of humor and said no, the boxer Duran is the younger guy and no relationship!

I later learned that his company represents Audi and Volkswagen along with Kawasaki  here in Panama.  Consúltenos, S.A is in Panama City and also nearby in David so I asked him if he sold late model used cars.  Well one thing led to another and before you know it, my wife Susie was driving around in a Beetle Cabriolet with the top down throughout Boquete and you can’t miss her as it is the only Beetle up here.

Does she look happy??  Yep, right up until we experienced some transmission problems.  I took the bug to the dealership and met some really good people who were all about service, something Panama is just starting to understand.  Kind, courteous and reasonably prompt in fixing the problem which was not cheap and fully covered under the warranty by the way.
