The Panama Canal Authority plans to tender a logistics park and port for ships transporting vehicles and machinery, as well as a study for a logistics annex to the new Pacific locks.

It is expected that the proposals will be taken to the Board of Directors of the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) in the first six months of the year for approval. These projects would be given in concession through tenders and the ACP would only invest in the dredging needed for the vehicle transporter port.

Prensa.com reports that “… These services will be set up by the ACP in some 900 hectares located on the west side of the Canal which were contaminated with unexploded munitions and explosives that have been sanitized and filled in by the works on the enlargement, making them available for development. ”

The administrator of the ACP, Jorge Luis Quijano, added “… The logistics area and the port for these dockings, known as roll-on roll-off, would be located on the west side of the Canal in the Pacific. “
