In Panama the Chinese consortium Martano has submitted an environmental impact study to build a 423 MW combined cycle power plant in the village of Puerto Pilon, province of Colon.

Data from the Information System on Construction Projects in Central Area Commercial provided by the Business Intelligence Unit at CentralAmericaData, shows that on December 1, 2016 the company Martano Inc submitted an environmental impact assessment (EIA) to Miambiente to build an energy generation plant.

The EIA indicates that the project, called GAS TO POWER PANAMA, “will be developed on a plot of 10.23 hectares (lot 2) completely in the terrestrial sector of the Río Alejandro Energy Park project, opposite an area which has been in industrial use for many years, this being a refinery, where relevant activities such as fuel transfers are carried out, the lot contains a bulk loading terminal and thermoelectric station Bahia Las Minas.”

“… The project will be located on a plot of land measuring 10.23 hectares within the Energy Park Río Alejandro project located in the village of Puerto Pilon, district of Colon, Colon province, on which two (2) units of combined cycle (2GTG + 2HRSG will be built (Steam Generator Heat Recovery) – + 1 STG) using natural gas as the main fuel to produce a gross amount of energy of up to 423 MW.”

In December 2015, the Chinese consortium was awarded the contract to supply 350 MW of thermal energy during the period from January 1, 2019 and December 31, 2033.
