Panama: $70 million to Build Research Center

With a loan from BCIE, the laboratories and biosafety buildings, the transport warehouse, the water treatment plant and the administration of the Campus Gorgas research center will be built.
From a statement issued by the Presidency of Panama:
The Cabinet Council at its meeting on Tuesday authorized the signing of a loan contract between the Republic of Panama and the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (BCIE) for the sum of 70 million balboas to partially finance the Gorgas Campus-Phase I Project.
The contract which will be signed on behalf of Panama by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), seeks to equip the Gorgas Memorial Institute with new infrastructure and state-of-the-art technology.
This project, called “Campus Gorgas”, aims to improve the scientific research system in the area of health and in its first phase, will include construction of buildings for research and biosafety laboratories, a transport warehouse, a Water treatment plant and administration area.
